Claws are very important to cats. And your Furniture is Important to you!

Smart and caring cat owners don't declaw their cats, but they do Save their Furniture with a heavy duty, natural Sisal Scratch Post by Smart Cat which helps to tone their muscles, remove old nail sheaths from their claws, help relieve stress, frustration and boredom, and mark their territory.

The SmartCat Ultimate Scratching Post is both a vertical and horizontal scratching post for cats who like to scratch in both directions - reaching up high or stretched across the floor.

The SmartCat Ultimate Cat Scratch Post is made from natural woven sisal, which is more durable than wound sisal. This means that you will get much longer use out of your scratching post. The Ultimate Cat Scratch Post is a durable, tall, full-stretch post with a heavy base that is sturdy and wide so it won't tip over or wobble when your cat runs and leaps at it.

  • 81cm height allows cats to stretch fully and tone muscles
  • Sturdy 40cm base eliminates tipping and wobbling
  • Saves your furniture and your money
  • Fibrous and durable woven sisal naturally inspires scratching
  • Superior to carpeted posts that may snag nails
  • Assembles with two included screws
  • Attractive and neutrally toned

Cats don't like a wobbly scratch post, which is why they love your couch. Give them an alternative to your furniture with a heavy and tall Cat Scratch Post from SmartCat that also allows them to perch on top (you can even get a separate soft red perch - sold separately).

The SmartCat Ultimate Scratching Post contains quality materials that won't fall apart, and will pay for itself many times over! You won't be replacing this post any time soon, because SmartCat makes products that are sturdy and well made and include quality materials that your cat will love.

Cat Scratch Posts tips:

* Place the scratcher in a room where the cat spends a lot of time. Cats often like to stretch and scratch when they wake up from a nap.
* To introduce the scratcher to your cat try using catnip as a lure (for most cats a lure is unnecessary, but fun). Rub catnip onto the sisal material and call the cat over to the scratcher.
* Scratch your nails along the surface of the material. This will attract the cat and at the same time teach him where to scratch.
* After your cat begins to scratch, praise him and give him a food treat - small kittens can be trained to climb the scratcher by showing them food treats and placing it at the top of the scratcher.
* If your cat has already been scratching a piece of furniture, place the scratcher directly in front of it.
* Temporarily cover the previously scratched areas with a few strips of double-sided carpet tape or clear double-sided tape strips that are designed for this purpose. This will help redirect your cat's scratching activities to the scratcher.
* Most cats are easily trained but if your cat is the exception, please see for free behavior counseling.

My 3-year-old indoor cat has tried a lot of different types of posts and this one is the best height. I just left it in the room and didn't try and make him scratch it. And on the first day he was using it and continues to use it. He hasn't been able to get a full stretch with other posts as they have not been tall enough. I also purchased the scratching post from the same brand that lies down flat and my cat also uses this to scratch and lie on I have had that one for over a year and my cat scratches after every sleep and he has not even damaged it. I have only just purchased the upright post but it is made of the same high quality sisal as the horizontal post so I know it will last for a long time. This brand is of superior quality compared to other posts we have tried and is worth the cost as my cat is happier with getting a complete stretch and proper scratch. I am really happy and grateful I found this one.

I bought this for my ragdoll. It's sturdy and a good height for allowing my cat to have a good scratch and stretch. I didn't need to bother about following the advice to encourage my cat to use it. She did so straight away. The quality seems excellent and she's never used a post to scratch so much before. She absolutely loves it! Would happily recommend to anyone.

I've been through about 10 scratching posts that would be completely ruined after a few weeks and so I decided to take a risk and purchase this bad boy. It's really expensive for a scratching post but it worth every penny! My 2yo kitty loves stretching and climbing on the post and took to it straight away! I've only had it about a week but it is very sturdy and the quality of the product is excellent. I've read many reviews where these have lasted years. My cat and I can not recommend this enough!

This is a good quality product, stable and sturdy. I chose this for its height and also the sisal material which I feel will last longer than the carpeted style I have used previously. Our new rescue cat Cindy aka ‘The Shredder’ has taken to it beautifully and our other cat Jef loves being able to fully stretch as he scratches. It’s very sturdy and copes wonderfully with two boisterous cats. It is good value for money.
