Freeze-Dried vs. Dehydrated Pet Treats/Food

Though both methods remove a large percentage of the moisture in food ingredients, freeze-dried pet treats or food are flash-frozen in its raw state and can be rehydrated when ready to serve.

These types of pet products have a longer shelf life as well (up to 30 years depending on the environment’s temperature) and don’tmould easily. On the other hand, dehydrated cat/dog treats or food are air-dried and contain a bit more moisture compared to freeze-dried treats; dehydrating can also cause the nutritional value to go down slightly while freeze drying helps retain all nutrients in the food ingredient’s original raw form.
